While some love using Mint.com to manage their finances, other complain about it’s inability to help you actively budget and have a detailed plan for your money.  And still others have found that Mint.com is a good addition to other personal finance software. 

Because Mint.com is so easy to use and very hands off, one can get the benefits of using Mint.com (such as easily tracking your spending and seeing an overview of your net worth) while still using other budgeting software to help you create and stick to an active budget.  There’s no reason why you can’t have the best of both worlds.  I wouldn’t, however, recommend only using Mint.com if you trying to get your finances back on track and need a budgeting plan.

My friends and I recently spent about six months restoring an old pick up truck that one of our dads had in his garage. He never took it out to use it, and we all like to tinker with our cars.
