I seem to always forget about this little thing called price adjustment.  My girlfriend just reminded me about this yesterday.  She was telling us about the Christmas tree she purchased last year at a big retailer store.  After Christmas as we all know, everything gets marked down.  There were local coupons everywhere for additional discounts however this tree did not apply to the coupon.  Nevertheless, she took her receipt back when she saw the trees were marked down again and received a price adjustment.  She said she went back two additional times and they gave her a price adjustment both times.  You do not really need your local coupons when you get a price adjustment multiple times, however, a coupon is always an added bonus.
