Why You Should Have Vitamin C With Your Cereal
Most cereals are fortified with vitamins and minerals. These include minerals like iron, which are important for our energy levels. But minerals in particular can be difficult for the body to absorb. Iron is like this. However, vitamin C actually helps us absorb iron. Coffee and tea inhibit the process however. So, to really get the most out of your breakfast cereal and prepare you for the day ahead, make sure you skip the coffee and eat things with lots of vitamin C.
Fortunately, you don’t have to go and take a vitamin C supplement. There are so many easy ways to get it through food, it seems silly, especially if you’ve gone to the trouble of eating breakfast in the first place. Try slicing up some kiwi fruit, berries, oranges, papaya or any of your favorite fruit and eating this on your cereal. It sure will improve the taste of that bran cereal! If you don’t have time for this, or there’s not any fresh fruit around, you can make sure you have a supply of fruit juice on hand. Whilst fresh is best, all fruit juices have vitamin C in them.
