It’s important to make sure that your custom house blueprints are fully up to code. This is especially important if you are acting as the contractor on your house, or are taking on significant responsibility in other ways. If your design elements to not meet city or county regulations, you may have a hard time selling the property or may not be able to sell it at all until the code violations are fixed. If you plan to live in the house yourself for a long while this is less of a concern, but still worth investigating. Finally, make sure your custom house plans reflect a reasonable cost of materials before getting too deeply into the project. You don’t want to discover a budget shortfall halfway through the project.
