Can You Start Beekeeping by Catching a Flock of Honeybees
When you want to start beekeeping, instead of buying honeybees, some beekeepers wish to discover honeybee swarms to set up into their hives. Swarms often cluster on tree branches or other accessible places (gaps between buildings etc). In most cases, property owners want these bees removed. In some areas, beekeepers may be able to get wild bees for their hives by recording their names on a ‘swarm retrieval list’ that is generated from local 911 calls. Capturing wild honey bees is perhaps not the best alternative for first-time beekeepers, unless you are sure that you know how swarming occurs and identify how to defend yourself from a swarm of bees. Learn how to start keeping bees is the right way.
