The panels of shower doors can be framed up with aluminum materials for further protection. Frameless shower doors however do not contain aluminum side coatings.

The importance of the framed door is to give a room a larger space and more open feeling while having a shower. Framed shower doors are easier to clean, and when fitted with clear glass, they can reveal their flashy and decorative wall tiles or marble decorations. Aluminum frames are usually used to protect the edges of framed shower doors because of the fragility of the glass materials. They make the glasses difficult to break and much more strong and durable than the frameless glass doors.
