Growing up, I really didn’t have a sense of what a credit card was until (at my honest recollection) I was a sophomore or junior in high school. And even then, it was only a gas card.

I remember my dad telling me, “Son, if you don’t have the money in the bank, you probably shouldn’t be using a credit card.”

That was great advice back then and still holds solid today.

There are, of course, situations where using a credit card is not a bad idea. But due to time, I won’t go into them.

Time will tell if we as a country will take them to heart.
