I heard an ad recently about some discount program.  After the husband It ended with this exchange:" Wow, this $46 deal, yada, yada, yada….Oh, and by the way, I solved global warming." "Wow.  A $46 discount!" I know the marketing company was just trying to be cute, but is it really OK to ignore important things and focus on less important things.  Let’s face it, we are all caught up in our own little worlds and our own little priorities.  That is only natural.   But it is worth our while to take a little of our own time and thing about our brothers and sisters and neighbors across the street and across the planet.  Don’t expect advertisers to seduce us into paying attention to what’s important; that’s not their department.  That is our department.
