Online education is a great option for people who are self-motivated learners. Students of an online distance learning course also need to be able to follow written instructions and communicate in writing. You need to feel comfortable with the technology of e-mail, voice mail, the Web, fax, and VCR—and you need to have regular access to a computer with sufficient memory and an Internet. Online learning provides a lot of written interaction with students and instructors, but no (or very little) face-to-face interaction. Many students enjoy the focused communication that the online format facilitates, but online learning is probably not right for you if you prefer face-to-face communication.
