Part of my family lives in the Philippines and each month we take up a small collection to transfer money to them to help with living expenses. Employment opportunities are difficult in the area they reside in, but they do try to work as much as possible. I thought it was a little selfish at first when I started working and my mother asked me to make monthly contributions, no matter what denomination. After conversing with my cousins one afternoon, we had a conversation about giving money to our relatives and figured it was a good idea and also because our parents requested us to do so.
