I would imagine being a whistleblower and a federal one at that is a very difficult and dangerous job.  It almost is what a layman calls a spy so you can just imagine being a federal whistleblower  would mean having Federal Whistleblower Protection.  Without it, you can be the next target (like one of those james bond movies).  Seriously speaking, having protection is a must because you know that  there are people around you who doesn’t like what you are doing and would go to extreme measures to shut you up. So better be prepared and protected.
