Since getting a second dog, I’ve noticed some strange new habits in the old dog. For example with their food dishes. The older dog now lays in front of the dog food, not really eating but more guarding the bowls. It’s like he’s blocking access to the dog food and gaining some dominance over the other dog. Sadly, the old dog is a Pomeranian and weighs about 8lbs and the new dog is Blue Heeler/St. Bernard and outweighs the smaller dog 10x over or more. Needless to say, the little dog puts on a great show of protecting the food and chasing the big dog off. The big dog thinks this is great fun.
