If you are interested in a career in health care but the idea of becoming a medical doctor involves more years than you are willing to invest, a career as a physician assistant may be what you are looking for. A physician assistant degree does require education beyond high school. At least two years of college is normally a prerequisite before an applicant is admitted into the physician assistant program. Having some medical work experience in your background can be an asset but it normally not a requirement.
