Recovery is a key component to a successful training programme. Without sufficient rest, the muscles will not be able to function properly. Fatigue can lead to a loss of co-ordination and decrease in power output. This in turn can lead to muscle strains and injury. If the muscles are fatigued from a previous workout, then it is impossible to work at maximum capacity, making the next session far less valuable.Taking a sports or bodybuilding supplement, such as protein or recovery drinks, can dramatically decrease the time needed for recovery, refuelling the muscles allowing them to rebuild damaged fibres. There are various factors which determine the recovery time. Obvious factors include age, training experience and the intensity of a session will greatly affect the recovery time, but negative emotions also have a great effect as well.It is crucial therefore that rest periods are relaxing and are long enough to allow the muscles to fully recover.
